Program Purpose

The Development Program supports youth who are ready for continued physical education and structured learning, building on the Foundation Program while maintaining a non-competitive and educational approach.

The purpose of this program is to reinforce healthy movement patterns, focus, and self-awareness through structured activities, not to prepare participants for competition or athletic advancement.

 

Educational Focus

The Development Program emphasizes:

  • Reinforcement of fundamental tennis-related movements

  • Improved coordination, footwork, and body awareness

  • Structured activities that encourage focus, problem-solving, and self-regulation

  • Injury awareness and age-appropriate conditioning for safe movement

Any game-like activities are used solely as learning tools, not as measures of performance or achievement.

Target Participants

  • Age range: Generally 10–14 (or based on developmental readiness)

  • Experience level: Completion of the Foundation Program or equivalent readiness

Program Characteristics

  • Small-group, class-based instruction

  • Progressive but non-evaluative learning structure

  • No competitions, rankings, ratings, or external benchmarks

  • Continued emphasis on education, health, and personal development
